Can anybody let me know where you get your eyes from?
We are in Sydney, and used to get them from local butchers and pet foods but none of them can supply anymore.
Help!!

I get eyes and other body bits from Dissection Connection in Brisbane. Very helpful, easy to get along with and prompt delivery. Check their website.

Southern Biological have frozen bullocks eyes in packs of 5. Cost is about $4 an eye. Plus GST and delivery costs to factor into the price. I have gotten preserved eyes from them for dissection but that is only because I didn't think that the frozen eyes would stand the delivery time for the N.T. According to their blurb the lens from the frozen eyes are not as clouded like the preserved ones so are good for focussing light. The preserved ones are supposed to hold their shape better though. I suppose it just depends what the teacher expects the students to get from the lesson. The company overnights goods from Victoria.

I still get mine from the butcher, I have to order ahead but they still cost $5- per eye as they have to pay a guy just to come in and remove the eyes at the abattoir. MariaC
I use Dissection connection. They are very prompt and last time we ordered eyes, the teacher was impressed. I have found with frozen eyes, they can turn out a bit yuk once they have thawed but with Dissection Connection, they are vacuum sealed and sent express.
I get all my dissection supplies from Michael's Butchery at Merrylands. They charge $1 per fresh bullock eye and all the stuff very cheap and very reliable too.
The owner's name is Milad Finianos, 37 Irrigation Road, Merryland West, 2160. Phone number : 9631 0921.
He is always very prompt and easy to deal with....
My local butcher in randwick also supplies us with eyes, hearts, brains and plucks. Porcine eyes are $2 each Sokkhieng butcher on belmore road (randwick)
