In the past we have done bean seeds crushed, cover with honey & Hot water, add a teaspoon of dry yeast & leave the culture to ferment for about 24 hours. Place a drop of Crystal violet on a miroscope slide, then place a drop of the yeast culture on top of the crystal violet, aim to observe the reproduction of yeast cells.
After a few minutes the yeast cells died, and we could not see any thing.
We would like to know what other people do for Cell division.
PLEASE!

Re: Cell Division
Our kids, even the senior Biology just use pre peprepared slides and large plaster models to demonstrate cell division.

Re: Cell Division
We just use yeast, sugar and warm water it's ready to use within 1/2hour. Then straight onto the slide.

Re: Cell Division
Its hit and miss, but I'd say 2 tablespoon dry yeast 1 tablespoon sugar in 600mls warm water (1 litre beaker) so it dowsn't overflow everywhere.
Re: Cell Division
They do the same here. Plus look at a video on Youtube.
Re: Cell Division
We had a green single celled something dividing right before our eyes, while we were looking at pond water. Don't know what it was, but it took 20mins and was spectacular.
Cheers, K
