Making eosin yellowish

Post by rae »

I have not made this stain before and found the recipe in "The Laboratory".
It says 1g stain to 100ml of water. This seems really dark and strong when I made it. Much darker than the stain I already have made up.

My question is does anyone else have a different recipe/ way of making it? And does it fade with age??

Thanks

My recipe says 1g stain to 100mL 75% ethanol. I haven't made any, though, so I don't know what it's like.

Hi Lorrae
I haven't made any fresh eosin for a couple of years. I made it with water and its red. When made with water its to show movement of water in plants or in histology. When made with ethanol its for staining cytoplasm.
