Hi Everyone,
Are you able to make silver chloride into a solution? If so what quantity would I need to make up 0.5M and how would I do this?
I have not been able to find any information in the labbie 'bible' - The Laboratory, nor when I googled.
I need this solution (if possible) by 11:30.
Help.....

Re: Silver Chloride
Silver Chloride is virtually insoluble
Silver chloride is so insoluble in water (.0.002 g/L) that a saturated solution contains only about 1.3 x 10-5 moles of AgCl per liter of water.

Thanks TirzahKat. That is the information I was getting from Google as well.
I have spoken to the teacher and they have thankfully opted not to use it.

Re: Silver Chloride
What did the teacher want to use it for??
Re: Silver Chloride
I know that teachers often ask us to do the impossible, but this is ridiculous!
Re: Silver Chloride
Sometimes they just don't understand that things like this aren't possible with the equipment we have or the reality of the substance they want dissolved in this case.

Halogen precipitates. They originally asked for potassium fluoride but we don't have that as it is Yr 11 & 12 or teacher use only in the ACT.
