Freight for transportation of chemicals
Hi all,
It has been quite a while since I have posted anything!!!!
Has anyone noticed the cost of freight for chemicals lately? I have just ordered 8 chemicals and was charged $45.00 !!!!! So I rang Livingstone to complain and they reduced the freight down to $30.00.(this is still pricey in my opinion) Just goes to show that complaining does sometimes work in your favour. So please do take notice next time you have an order and if you think the freight is unfair COMPLAIN!!!!
Cheers

We did the same but they didn't reduce the cost $60.50 the explanation was the Hains don't stock the chemicals it comes separately from the chemical manufactures. I will be checking prior to ordering from now on.

I ordered magnifying glass boxes form UK, paid $36 for 50 boxes and paid $5.50 for postage. If I bought same thing in Au, I would have to pay $4.50 ea. and $10-15 postage. What the????

I know Australia Post recently put up all there prices.
But i know with ordering chemicals, depending on what you order, it often has to be shipped on an entirely different truck to others, so that can bring the cost up.

Everything costs that much to freight down here :( I am happy if it is $40 or under. Thtas why I try to order everything from Westlabs. $40 flat shipping no matter how many boxes they send and at what times.

And also freighting UP here! Not to mention, we get our highways washed away at least once a year.Everything costs that much to freight down here :(
But yes, addressing the original comment, we always have to factor in the freight costs, since they're always exhorbitant! Sometimes I even make the effort to buy locally (eg HCl from pool shops) just to eliminate the freight.
Cheers, K

Re: Freight for transportation of chemicals
Just had some chemicals shipped down to Tassie (from Qld) with freight costs adding up to $0! They charge a set fee 0f $35 to ship to Tas, but if you spend $250 they will ship for free. After totalling up my order it came to $245. I went looking for something that I might need for $5 and saved $30.
Re: Freight for transportation of chemicals
Wayne, can you PM me who that is with?

Re: Freight for transportation of chemicals
I got called to the Principal's office in trouble a few years ago because of freight costs!
I had ordered one item from a company that was the only supplier of that item at the time. I bought nothing else from them.
The freight of the item cost more than the item itself, so the Finance officer got cranky, went to the Principal and I got carpeted.
NOT FAIR!

Posted this but then deleted it as wasn't sure if it contravened forum rules, but had a look and as there is no email address or website I think it is OK!
Labtek do free shipping for orders over $250 and are usually pretty reasonable and quick too. Not sure if that is who Wayne meant but they are also based in QLD.

That's the place Nicky! Usually takes about 2 days for them to deliver to Tas, a little longer with chemicals.
