My HOD requested red phosphorous for her prac, I thought it will be straight forvard to order it as it has green dot in CSIS book. According to Serratta: ' this is a Category 1 Drug-precursor so an EUD will need to completed and police approval is required"
any help would be appreciated
yes, but it is mixture.
We need to fill in some paperwork and then we can order. Nick from ChemSupply said that more and more chemical are added to that list (lithium, phosphorous acid,etc

Red phosphorus has been removed from our list of approved chemicals for school use. It hasn't been banned but will no longer be supplied. It is a known drug precursor and requires an End User Declaration before purchase. The same applies for lithium. It is fairly easy for me to say it is on the banned list of chemicals as the teachers rarely check the list of approved and banned chemicals to check the conditions associated with a chemical's use or non-use.

An EUD will be required, chem suppliers will request something in writing and this should not be a problem. Just ask what they require you to answer and be straight forward.

I just got asked for this chemical too - and a whole heap of other stuff from that end of the chem store.
I found the red phosphorus on a medium sized tin, marked that it was received in 2006, I dare not open it until the teacher is here. Reading that it is a voilent explosive - should it be green dotted? maybe Orange?
red phosphorus will absorb water from the atmosphere, (Hydroscopic), and this will settle on top of the phosphorus giving it a wet layer. Over time this may dry but if the container is well sealed the opening it will not yield anything else but a bottle filled with phosphorus and a little water.
