does any one know how to remagnetise old horseshoe magnets used in an electrical generator dem?

The chap from Serrata, at St Marys last year give us a demo. I can not remember if its North to North, or South to North, to re-magnet the magnets. Plus some one else may remember, or if not give Serrata a ring. Do'nt think the re-magnet thingo were very dear. Horse shoe magnet's are not the best.

While we are on the topic of magnets, is it true that you need to be careful which direction to store bar magnets in (i.e not with two north ends near each other in the tray)

Yes! you have non magnetic seperator and two iron keepers across ends N to S
With horseshoe magnets just a keeper across bottom
