Excel question

Post by bigmack »

Hi Excel gurus

I am using my spreadsheet that Rosalie sent me .
I have a payments column where I enter say PPC ( Bunnings Power pass card) or OWC (Office works card ) Or CBCcard ( Commonwealth Bank Card)

Now , I have tried and tried and tried and tried and wasted hours on the phone and in person at CBA trying to get Commbank online banking so I can see my available credit .

Then it struck me , if I am keeping a running total , surely I can keep track of the card balance .( obviously there will be slight delays as some over the phone orders take a while to process ) .

But if on the 27th of each month I get topped up again , what would be the easiest way to figure this into the spreadsheet . There is a bewildering amount of formulas and formatting options , but I don't know where to start . :-(

Do you do your own credit card reconciliation? I usually can see what's remaining by looking at that. I will see if I can come up with something that will help you in your spreadsheet though.

I get given a bank statement each month and have to match up each invoice or cash register docket to the statement to keep the Office bean counters happy .

As mentioned , I can't assess Commbank to check online balance so was hoping I could keep a running tally on the spreadsheet.
So on the 27th of the month , the credit available goes back up to $1000 . Say, todays the 24th and I want to see how much I have spent on the card since the 27th of last month so I know how much available credit I have . If that makes sense . I just don't know how to relate it to the date .

Yeah it makes sense. I do my reconciliation online (my card is CBA but it's a completely different system where I do the reconciliation) so I can just check there and work it out.
