Ammonium Iron Sulphate

I have done a search but haven't found my answer... I have a sample pot (specimen jar) of ferrous ammonium sulfate (label printed by previous labbie) and the hand written chemical formula on it is wrong. It is a very pale green salt. Would this be iron II or iron III? Is there a way to work it out? I am wanting to buy a new bottle of it so I can get rid of this one but I'm not sure which one to buy. Do you use both types? I am happy to get both if they will be used! From Rosaliel yesterday, So very sorry I merged with wrong ones. So I have started a new thread.

Ferrous is iron II. Ferric is iron III.

Thanks :) Yeah I know ferrous is supposed to be II but the hand written chemical formula didn't match the printed label so I wasn't sure what it was, It is definitely not purple like that so it must be the ferrous. It's not in the original container. I will get some more. Do you use both iron II and iron III? If so, I will get both.

The Ammonium Iron III sulphate is used in a saturated solution for year 12 Chem .Can't remember the prac but it seems to be in the new syllabus.

It's used for the Mohr's Salt titration in year 12. well at least that's what we use it for. Ammonium Ferrous Sulfate (NH4)2Fe(SO4)2.6H2O.
We have Ammonium Ferric Sulfate as well but it's on my list for disposal. The container we have is really old and hasn't been asked for for in the time I've been here.

Your SDS should tell you. But it needs to go to chemical waste collection. In a jar or container well labeled.

If you have access to the Risk Assess program you will have information on that site to help you in your disposal choices.

Disposal
Retain for collection by a waste service or <100 g/day may be dissolved in 20 times the mass of water and poured down the drain in a stream of water.

Do remember most of you have pit or Sump of some sort, hence the CSIS lets you put it down the sink to waste, with lots of water of course.
