Hi All,

We are looking to purchase one or more electronic balances.
What do other schools have for their classes to use?
What weight do they measure up to and how many decimal places do they have?
What companies have supplied them?

Thanks for your input!!

We have 4 anylitical balances 0.01gms for chemical prep and senior Chem only.
We have had these balances for years we service them every 2 years and they are treated very well.
The junior use 4 electronic balance which have battery or power option and only 0.1gms max 600, these are much cheaper and seam to be tough with at least 3 years of wear and tear. I havent need to serviced these yet. I check accuracy yearly with a set of weights.

Hi
We use the Ohaus balances from Serrata .We buy the 2 decimal place 4oog
ones for the seniors.(One decimal place is a waste of time as they arent accurate enough.)
They now have an overload thing in them so the kids cant wreck them.
I have found them terrific but expensive.
The year 7s we make use the old beam balances
Hope this helps

We get ours from AIS in Victoria.

210 or 310g +-0.01g approx $500, for general class use.

20kg +-1.0g for general larger masses.

Hope this helps.....IRD
