Silver Nitrate

Earlier today a teacher who had ordered Copper wire and Silver Nitrate solution for a displacement reaction asked me if the Silver Nitrate was expensive.
I had absolutely no idea as I haven't had to buy any in the almost 20 years that I have been here due to the amount that was in the Chemical Store already.
So I looked it up and found yes it is very expensive, $117 for a 25gm jar.
Then back to the Chemical Store to see just how much I still had left.
I still have 478gms gms of Silver Nitrate. At the current price it is worth over $2,000
Makes me wonder just how money is tied up in the Chem store.
