turmeric paper
Years ago I made up turmeric paper for a Biology experiment, but I forget why. Does anyone know what it was for?

It is used to detect the presence of alkalis, which turn the paper brown, or boric acid, which turns it red-brown.
Never had the need at high school level to use it.
Maybe used in industrial/food labs ??
