Hi People,
I've just used the limewater still and wonder if there is any way of stopping disturbance of the sediment when "starting"
the pump?
Cheers
Liz

The best way is to try and keep the hose filled with lime water that way it will flow as soon as you place it lower that the bottle and use a water bottle to fill as you empty I use a 1lt one so I can keep the flow going into the bottle slowly so as you empty you are filling.

Hi Noona,

Something I did not add to my list of favorates or would like to dos sheet at the end of the conference was the snake and reptile man. I attended that one in 2007 and was facinated by what he had to say and show us. I would really loves to attend that session again. Perhaps you could pass this on to the organisers or tell me how to go about adding this to the list !!!!
Thanks Carolyn

I have had mine for years and it works great \:D/
Just remember you need to put water in at the same time. :clap3:

I have never seen this!
I have winchesters that I inherited over 13 years ago.. I have never had to make any lime water up!
They have a slurry of Calcium Hydroxide in the bottom. When the volume of liquid above the slurry gets low, I just add water and shake, then set the winchesters aside to settle.simple!
I just pour off the top when i need limewater

Well yes, I had set one up. However the "Cup your hand over the thistle funnel" part never works first time. I have been know to blow into the funnel and get the flow started. 8O Face it - it's limewater, not NaOH.

But as far as producing good limewater goes - its a winner

you need to have it above the beaker I keep mine on the window sill and add water as it flows better .
Just make sure you put in as much as you take out (all at the same time)

From "The Laboratory" Add 25g of calcium hydroxide to 1L distilled water. Shake and allow to settle. Draw off clear liquid (saturated solution). Each time you have used some limewater just add more water to the remaining solution, shake again and let settle. You can keep doing this until all the calcium hydroxide has been used up.
