We are getting another class set of lightboxes. Has anyone got some from Haines recently?

As well as the Hodson type that we already have, they offer a set packed in one level in a red tote.

I'd like to know if:
- they stack (they appear to...)
- they use the newer globes
- their parts are interchangeable with the Hodson sets
- and, of course, any other advice you can give me

Can't help with those. But recently we purchased the light source coloured set/3 (P607) and prisms & lenses set, acrylic (P576) from Haines instead of light boxes. Teachers are very happy with the light sources - use a battery and much easier to use than the traditional light box & power pack. I got the lenses because they were in a case - easy to store and check. If required, I give the teachers the top part of the old light box kits (with mirrors, prisms etc) to use as well. The light sources are magnetic so the teacher can stick them on the whiteboards and draw light refraction etc for all the kits to see.

The red totes are actually Gratnells. We have 6 and they just slot into my Gratnells trolley beautifully.

Debbie, can you tell me if those coloured light sources are bright enough to use in a normal classroom please. They look fantastic and I love that they dont need the power supply boxes.

They are fine in the classroom - It has a coloured LED (red or blue or green) in the unit. The front cover comes off so you can either use it with a slit or a wide angle beam and mix the colours. My teachers think they are great as they don't have to carry power supplies around!

Are the lenses magnetic as well?

Unfortunately the lenses are not magnetic but they can be held up on the whiteboard with one hand and you can draw angles etc with the other
