Hi all this is for det schools mainly
Can someone tell me were it is written that we ahve to risk assestments., as I have look every place and can't find anything on it

I went to seminar given by Phil Crisp (founder of Csis) long time ago and he said, as long as you follow the guide lines given by CSIS, you do not need to do your own RA. He called it generic RA. I work in private school, so I make up RA to satisfy board of studies, but I use the generic ones in CSIS to help( As I said, this was at least 4 years ago or more.

I have a letter from Richard Morante, I can fax to you, YOU DO NOT NEED TO DO RISK Assestments.

GREAT NEWS, AS I HAVENT BEEN DOING THEM BUT THE TEACHERS HAVE BEEN DOING THEM.

Thanks every one but so many labbies have said they do them that I thought it must be some where on the det site but I found nothing
I have never done them and I will do them when the dept send me the offical word on it so untill then I will not do them.
So for all you dept school if you have something in writting then go ahead and do them but not me.

I f you are using the risk assess program, it has a spot for the lab tech's risk assessment for preparing the prac.

I had the head teacher come to me at the beginning of the week asking me about it.
I told him we are not required to do risk assessment sheets for pracs.
He was happy to go along with that. I think they are busy enough as it is.So am I !!!

This is my letter to R Morante and his answer back to me.

Hope it helps so many of you that where confused.

The above statement Richard is talking about is a small section of the CSIS, I did not put that part in.
