Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone can identify this physics equipment?

Tricky. Interesting, but tricky. I can't really place it.

It looks like you have three distinct metal wires (copper, brass, steel?), each with a ring at one end and a brass bar at the other.

Possibly used for heat conductivity demonstrations? Maybe. I don't know.

Is it for the sonometer?

Wires for Youngs Modulus appparatus? Never used it, but I had those too. Chucked them out before the refurb.

Hi Tammy, You have Steve Ryde working there don't you??
If so ask him he is a guru of physics.

Love how your mind works, and jealous that you got to say it first!

I would have said an old centripedal force rig, except, as was pointed out, that they are clearly different types of wires. I ask one of my teachers here.

Ours are still in the original box from way back when.
This was the best explanation as to how they would have been used in the labs

They have not been used in the 14 years I have been here.

Youngs Modulus= stress/strain by supporting and putting weights on and measure the expansion

Thank you all so much, now I know what they are stress and strain/measuring expansion

Thank you

Look up Young's modulus on wikipedia Very comprehencive
Also look up Houndsfield test
