GHS labelling clarification

Post by glenpaul »

Hi All
Is it incorrect to have the (old) numbers on labels now. eg 3, 5.1, 6, 8 etc. Is it that we must only have the pictograms on the label.
If this is the case then how do we label dropper bottles as there can be 2 or 3 pictograms required on each bottle.
We are using Omega Scientific labels as the Chemwatch ones are often too hard to read because they have sooo much information for small labels.
HELP!! I am trying to get this right.

I was told by Chemwatch that you do not have to have everything on a lable - you choose the most appropriate ones.
for eg. some labels say 'Do not smoke' ... so as a school you can leave that out [assuming students do not smoke in school]
eg use only outdoors or in a well ventilated area.. you can shorten to' use in a well ventilated area'
make sure the H codes are on the label.
make the font as small as possible and reduce the size of the pictograms.
For some fo the dropper bottles [eg phenolphthalein in ethanol] I have laminated the full label and stuck that onto the tray , then made a label with only the msot important terms on it and stuck that on the bottles...
