science week ideas for water cycle & rocks

Post by Kathryn »

Hi all

Our year 7's are hosting some junior classes during science week. The Junior teachers have asked that we do some things which fit in with what they are currently studying - the water cycle and rocks! Any ideas how we can make these topics a little more exciting since they are making the effort to come up to the science labs? The junior classes are the littlies - ie Yr 2-4.
Thanks in anticipation....

There's all sorts of "edible rocks" recipes out there - eg Rocky Road is a good "conglomerate". Honeycomb is a wonderful lava/pumice stone imitation, but harder to make and hotter, with tinies in mind, and slices like caramel slice are good sedimentary rock demos.
Cheers, K 8-)
