I get pigs eyes from a local butcher usually only 8 at a time as we have 8 workstations in the labs.
I have to give several days noticeas they only cut up the pigs on tuesdays.
They don't charge me for them.
How many classes is that for? Surely he doesn't want one per student.

I get mine from the local abbatoir; they were $2 but since the C-Tax they've gone to $3, + GST = $3.30

Yep, try your local butcher. Pigs eyes do the job! I got told (I think by someone at the abbotoir) that they can't give out Bullock eyes anymore because of potential risk of mad cow disease (???). Perhaps that was just in the height of the scare, but since then we've used pigs eyes and they don't cost a thing :) I just need to give the butcher notice. We don't get more than 10 at a time.

Xenon, we may have to share contacts for that abattoir!
My supplier only does pigs eyes - they are smaller, but most of the time the kids can get the lens out.

I also think that they should be provided free - the other organs - ok people eat them, but does anyone eat eyes?

My supplier also got me a lovley spinal cord last time, with the brain stem attached - they said it was trouble getting it, but it was so fresh the kids got a lot out of it.

Hi Narelle
Hawkesbury Valley Meat Processors on King Road, Wilberforce (02) 4575 2067
Vehicular access from M&A butcher shop (worth checking out for home meat supplies) on the road frontage.
Beef eyes are bigger, and someone's got to cut them out of the heads - oh well, its the school's $

I don't think there's anything wrong with sheep eyes. It's just the size difference. Bigger eyes are easier to play with.

I buy bulls eyes from the local IGA butcher section. I ring the order through and they get them in for me. Never had any trouble with ordering. Being bigger than sheep eyes, it is easier for the junior classes to disect them

I just get ours from the local butchers.
If you can not try the Dissection Connection they deliver to Port I am sure.
