I think in our school it still comes out of the PD budget but science has a set amount they can use if that makes sense. Our state government has recently announced funding cuts to education so who knows where we will be in a few years time...

Hi Noona/All,

I would love to present at the St Mary's but every year it seems to clash with my University studies and eam period.

Is there a calendar you could devise to show upcoming dates or is this a challenge too difficult to forsee?

Cheers,

Robb.....

Hi Robb,
the 'St marys Conference' is always the last Thursday and Friday of November.
If this helps any.
2013 dates would therefore be 28th & 29th November.

Just had a 'shucks' moment...the day AFTER this years' conference is DECEMBER!!!!!!

Trying to organise myself for the conference. What will be the best way to get out to St Mary's? I fly in Wednesday lunchtime and thought I'd go into Sydney to have something to eat and a look around. I'm staying out at St Mary's so my options are taxi (approximate cost?) or train (I used to live/work at Westmead so not a stranger to the western line) I could hire a car (Schools preferred method) but I have never really felt confident driving in Sydney plus I'm going to be on a really tight time frame to get my flight home (last direct flight to Hobart on Friday evening) and don't want to muck around with hire car return.

So what are your thoughts?

i am a train girl- and find it quite easy to get around.
Agree - driving in Sydney is stressful if you are not used to it, and the airport is VERY busy these days - the train drops you right at the domestic terminal.
As long as you don't have huge bags.

The taxi from my place to the airport is about $120 so prob about $150 to st Marys....
train prices can be worked out if you google city rail.

Thanks Narelle. After spending years travelling, I'm a very economical packer, so will just have a day pack. Do you know how long a train would take from St Mary's to the airport? Im not worried about the time getting there, it is more going home. I can't remember what time the conference officially finishes on friday, but I have a 530pm flight that I have to make as my daughters have 3 dance concerts over that weekend (bad bad timing as I was looking forward to having a weekend with hubbie in Sydney)

the timetable is available online, conference finishes 3.30. You may need to leave a tad earlier to get a train. It should take about an hour - but you will need to change trains for the airport line, at central. they run very frquently from there.
I wuld prob miss the last session - but thats me, would rather be sititng at the airport, than stressing trying to get there!!!
