Calcium carbonate

I have to make some calcuim carbonate samples....0.4/L, 0.6/L, 0.8/L, 1.0g/L

But calcuim carobnate wont disolve in water....can anybody help....

Go back to the teacher and find out what he is trying to do, reminding him Calcium Carbonate is insoluble

Yes I did that but she helplessly looked at me...

Actually they are doing hard and soft water analysis...

Should you be using calcium carbonate or calcium chloride, in the past I have made "hard" water - 0.75g MgSO4 and 0.38g CaCl2 to 1 litre of water.

I've used Calgon to soften water. I bought it in the supermarket along time ago.
