Photosynthesis - measuring the rate.

Our kids did a prac "Measuring the rate of photosynthesis" with elodea, bicarb and counting the bubbles at different distances and different coloured cellophane..
It gave many inconsistent results.
Has anyone done this and could possibly post the results for "light intensity" and "light spectrum" ???
Would be greatly appreciated!!

We do this prac (but with a different plant - elodea is banned here) but I think it is more to prove that photosynthesis occurs rather than to calculate rates. Sorry I can't help :(

what is the other plant that can used instead of elodea as it's banned in WA

we go to the local creek and get some weed long and very thin maybe you could try the local creek or the pet shop

A replacement plant for elodea is hydrilla. I can buy it from my local pet shop used in fish tanks.. It looks similar to elodea but I think the leaves are a bit smaller and more serrated.
