I just use a piece of nichrome wire to clean out the little hole in the gas jet part of the bunsen. The inside of the barrel I clean with a wiry test tube brush.

Thanks Liz. I'll look at buying the cleaning tips. They sound like what I need.

What do you do with your bunsens when you unscrew them but the whole lot comes out? So the jet hole bit is still up the barrel instead of in the base? Is there a way to get these bits apart without destroying them or am I wasting my time trying?

Try soaking them. If it is too stuck I don't bother. The cost of new ones isn't worth the effort
