Help, need ideas for a prac. for water hardness in water. It was suggested to use phenolphthalein for this prac in place of EDTA. How do we do this? Thanks :wink2:

We use the Heinmann chemistry prac manual. There is a prac for the analysis of local water which includes a section on hardness of water. This prac uses EDTA and eriochrome black T. Are you interested in a copy I can fax it to you?

how about aquarium water hardness kit. it cost approximately $10, and you can add carbonate or bicarbonate to get different readings
