Breathing prac

Hi everyone, we are doing a breathing prac next week using iced water, bromothymol blue & cobalt blue indicator paper but does anyone know where to find the indicator paper?? Can't find it in any of my supply books :-(

I make Cobalt paper by soaking filter paper strips in Cobalt Chloride (any conc.) and drying it in a dessicator. It's used for showing the moisture in exhaled breath.

If it goes pink just dry it again in an oven till it goes blue. And store it with silicon gel which you can also dry with the paper till it goes blue too. Keeps quite a while in a screw top jar.

If you don't have time to dry it in an incubator or oven, we use an old hair dryer which works quickly! Just don't let go of the paper!! Or if you have blow dryers in your school toilets they should do the trick as well... but that's just a guess :)

Alas no Cobalt chloride :cry2: so looks like a different prac... but will put it on the 'wishlist'!
