I would think they'd be ok.
It's not like you're gonna eat them.

Just dissect them half frozen, and the smell will be minimized!

It would be a delicacy in some countries, and they wouldn't have freezers

Some lady in China said on a show the other night, if it moves they eat it! Rats mights be bigger than quail for instance!

I've never used frozen rats before, but are now needing to as I can't get fresh ones anymore, so was wondering how long it takes them to thaw out?
Do you thaw them out in the fridge (like meat at home) or on the bench?
Are there any other tips I should know when using frozen rats?
Thanks for your answers in advance.

G'day Wayne,
I leave mine out overnight in a tub. The rat is in a plastic bag. You could put a tea towel or something similar over the tub if you wish.
This works very well for me with the rat/s being supple in the morning ready for dissection.
I live in Melbourne, Victoria and do not have much different evening chill from that in Tassie.

Hi Wayne,
I do the same thing as Voice. Defrost them overnight. I put a tray on top to cover them up in case we have any visitors ( mice or other living rats) during the night. I would hate to come in in the morning to find my rats half eaten!!

I used to leave them overnight too......not covered over, right where the cleaner would see them and scream.
