count plates - 3M Petrifilm

Hello peoples in labbie land - has anyone out their used the 3M Petrifilm plates instead of agar plates or in cojunction with ?
If so what are your thoughts on them? worth the money ? time saving or not?

Hi Dolphinscales,
I used to work at Heinz here in Wagga and we used the petrifilm swabs daily as part of our hygiene check. The trick with them is to use sterilised water to dampen them and the rest is easy. They have a large grid on them to count colonies. Overall less fuss to use them, but the cost of them tends to make agar dishes more viable.

and thanks to you pommy also- i have the manual and the info. What i wanted to know if they were as good as they say (form people who have had experience with them)- some times it looks wonderful but does not always turn out that way.
