Help! Just finish this experiment and again it didnt work
I use the plastic airlocks but seem always to grow mold when Im not suppose too
We sterilise using Miltons, broth is boiled for 10min but seem to still grow something!! does anyone have any FOOL (which is obviously me

Thanks Liz, but we dont have an autoclave, so we sterilise then boil. Anyone out there do similar with good results?

We boil the broth for 10min. One flask has a stopper with thistle funnel through it ( see "why" in a minute) and another with stopper with the funky air lock tube from brewery. This airlock has a wide mouth on top, hence thistle funnel for control. We had 4 each and every one with funnel grew mould and crap (it was left for too long) and the airlock ones were clear. Very happy with results

found out he is not boiling with the air locks and straight tubes on, this could be our problem!
