Hi all, we (VIC) start back on 28th...spent a month away in -10C temps, not looking forward to heat at school. Hope everyone is rested and ready for 2025.

Our school is back today - staff started back on 20th. My prep room got new storage over the holidays and it is AMAZING!!!! I love it! The two science labs also got a reno which is unfortunately still going... so no access to them yet for classes or putting any equipment in. They are certainly better than what we had but still could be a lot better. I was excited at the prospect but after seeing them I've been left disappointed. There is a vague plan to have new labs built in 5 years or so... and hopefully I will get to have a say in some of it. The teachers and I have had a few "why would they do that?" moments and thankfully I was able to request the power points be relocated before it was too late. They were INSIDE the cupboards, at the back, and just under the shelf that is positioned half way down. They are now at the top and outside the cupboards!

As for holidays, mine was relatively quiet for once!

Welcome back everyone. I had a quiet one, animals and gardening duties. Baby chicks aplenty, vege patch and orchards looking better and alpacas shorn. I am taking time to have adventures on the days I don't work, while there are no crowds. Beach break booked. I have lots of new teachers and feel exhausted already, they are all keen and I will have to mentor. 1 primary only trained Irish teacher doing Yr7 science. This may be my last year, after 35 yrs a school labbie. Next year thinking of taking all my leave. So I intend to blow stuff up, play with all the fun or mystery equipment, label and sort all year.
