All our labs have 10 of each size beakers, measuring cylinders etc in a cupboard in the labs, so i got creative, i dot all beakers, measuring cylinders etc with a spot of nail polish to match the lab - (red, green, yellow, blue and orange) and then put an acrylic clear over the top to withstand the dishwasher.

I'm so lucky my prep. room is central to the labs, all glassware stays with me and goes out on the trolleys as requested for each prac., teachers get them to rinse free of chemicals before returning. If it's to be used for another class of it goes, after checking and topping up if need be. Through the dishwasher and back on the shelf. No surprises in the lab workstation cupboards anymore. only equipment stored in workstations; retort stand, boss head and clamp, heat mat, gauze mat, bunsen burner, tripod and test tube racks (now plastic so can go through dishwasher too)

Do you like your plastic ones? What do you use when they are heating things? I was considering getting rid of our plastic ones and buying wood but I do like that i can put them through the dishwasher...

They are the heavy duty blue ones don't have a problem with them. Even with heated test tubes doesn't seem to worry them not to the extent I'd give up the dishwasher lol

oh, ok. Ours are a white plastic and lots of the rounded base bits are melted (from before I started here). Maybe I should look into replacing with better quality plastic ones!

We have the white plastic ones too and luckily only a few suffered from hot test tubes. We kept our very old timber ones which I give out to classes heating test tubes. Works well for us this way. The best of both worlds!
