Pasco Sparkview Cheatsheets

Post by bigmack »

We've got Sparkvue Data loggers here .
Seems that to use these wireless probes , you have to use an online App now.

It was doing the teachers heads in and nobody was wanting to use these very expensive pH probes and thermometers .
So I've printed and Laminated some cheat sheets which seems to be helping .

I decided to share here incase anyone else is having same problems .

There are two for each . One sheet is just to use as a simple pH probe or thermometer ,while the second sheets are how to use the graphing features such as the Titration .

Apparently it used to be a thing here too Anna , but kids all have BYOD now and as software costs , they don't install it . Hence the need to use the online app . Having said that , the Software version of Sparkvue looks the same as the online version so the above cheat sheets should work .

Alas , one of the groups of kids decided to attempt to calibrate one of the pH probes obviously with no knowledge or buffer solutions, so as I'm testing them after a titration prac I find one that's reading a pH of 197 :cheesy:

Might also be worth mentioning that the online Sparkue does not seem to support Safari , so can't use on an iPhone .Even when using Google Chrome on my iPhone SE ,it says it is unsupported .

Here's another , but this is on how to treat the probes .
Time before last we had two destroyed and they aren't cheap .
Hence this sheet was made and sent in with each probe .

On these Pasco ones the rubber seal on the storage solution is extremely tight .If they pull the probe out without undoing the lid , the Vacuum is so strong that it causes micro fractures in the thin glass bulb .The solution inside the Probe slowly leaks out . same as if they push the probe into the bottle which the lid screwed on , the pressure inside the bottle forces storage juice into the probe via cracks in the glass .
In some cases , the probe will still calibrate but is extremely sluggish to change value ,basic useless , in extreme cases , the probe can't be calibrated at all .

Thanks Anna
Is there a specific Student download ?
I was asked to download that Sparkvue software last week while talking to someone at Ciderhouse about another issue but was told its only valid for 60days .

No special one for students... didn't know it was a 60 days thing. Email Ciderhouse tech and ask them for a link to download the licensed version. Alternate is the Pasco website... will ask if user is over 18 though... we always click yes.
