Hi all,
I need to dilute both Ferric III Nitrate and Potassium Thiocyanate from 0.1M to 0.0020M
I'm no mathematician.......can someone give me the simple answer , pleeeeease?!!!

Re: Dilution
Solution dilution calculator https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/AU/en/supp ... calculator
Re: Dilution
Use the formula
C1 x V1 = C2 x V2
where C is the concentration and V is the volume, 1 is the first solution and 2 is the second
So if you wanted to prepare 100ml of 0.002M solution from a 0.1M solution
V1 = (C2 x V2) / C1
= (0.002M x 0.1L) / 0.1M
= 0.002L which is 2ml
So pipette 2ml of the 0.1M solution into a 100ml volumetric flask then make up with distilled water to the mark
Hope this makes sense...

Re: Dilution
Or take 20mL of 0.1M and dilute to 1L
Re: Dilution
This is another one I use, even the different styles of graph paper are good
