Hey,
Thanks for the your response,
I am not quite sure if they are the same. And I couldn't find any thing online or from ASSIST about the disposal of them:(

Re: Disposal of the Octanoic and Decanoic acid
Decanoic and Octanoic acid are individual chemicals . Neither are listed in CCIS but Risk assess has safety ratings but no disposal info that I could see .
Decanoic seems to be less of a concern .Only a mild irritant .Year 7-10
....From an SDS.....I love this .
Octanoic is corrosive and toxic to aquatic life . Year 11-12
From another SDS .

Call your local water supply company and see if they have any guidelines. Maybe also contact the EPA. Are you subscribed to ScienceAssist? Therese Gigengack from ScienceAssist has been very helpful to me in the past regarding chemical disposal.

Thanks Marama T. I do have assess to ScienceAssist but thought that if the info was all there on RiskAssess it would mean one less place to look.
