Hi,
Just wondering if anyone else has had any problems with Blue Bottles turning orange after a few hours?
Is there a way to prevent it, or is it just a matter of making up fresh every time?
Thanks,
Kyla

Re: Blue Bottle Experiment
Mine starts out blue/clear then after a few hours it's purple/clear then finally its a yellowish colour that won't change. Use it for a few hours then make a new batch.

Yep, eventually they give up. I haven't made it for a while, but used to add the last "ingredient" just before we needed them.

Re: Blue Bottle Experiment
I think it depends on the methylene blue. I do this all the time and have had the same problem, but not all the time, so That's my guess.
Re: Blue Bottle Experiment
I just made up the Traffic Light experiment, to test out before the teacher does it on Friday with the students, and it worked brilliantly!!
We showed it to a couple of year 11 (now 12) students and they were very impressed!
