Chemical prank

Post by ellice »

I read in our local paper last week, of a prank that lead to the poisoning of eight students from Ambarvale High School. Apparently they swallowed copper sulfate. Does anyone know what happened?

From the Sydney Morning Herald 29th Aug:

The Department of Education will take disciplinary action against a year 9 boy for an "inappropriate prank" that left eight students in hospital.

The eight students were treated in hospital after swallowing a poisonous chemical, copper sulphate, at a south-western Sydney school.

"It was an inappropriate prank that could have endangered the lives of students," an Education Department spokesman said.

The ambulance service was called to Ambarvale High School earlier today after the students ingested the substance.

The eight students have been taken to Campbelltown Hospital and are expected to be discharged later today.

Copper sulfate is a chemical sometimes used in high school science labs.

Hi All,

The only problem that I would be worried about is severe stomach cramps..
