Hi Shanna
I searched on Chem Watch and found VWR copper(II) nitrate hemi(pentahydrate). UN No 3085. I can't get an SDS from the Chem Supply site.

If you cannot obtain a SDS from the supplier ie the supplier no longer exists or they no longer produce the product, Workcover says it is acceptable to use a SDS for a similar product, or a generic SDS from Chemwatch would suffice.

no, its no good if it was written in 2002. All SDS"s have to be replaced every 5 years from date of issue. Issue date is used to calculate expiry date.

Sigma-Aldrich has the SDS for that chemical. It is UN1477. I have an old bottle of copper nitrate that has mostly gone to liquid. I use it when needed for flame tests as it it definitely a concentrated solution.

Don't go straight to the Sigma-Aldrich site. Google the chemical name first then choose Sigma-Aldrich SDS. I tried going straight to the company site and ended up having no joy. Let us know if you had any success.

Hi Folks
The UN No. 1477 is a generic classification for " NITRATES,INORGANIC,N.O.S." and is used for DG transport. Some UN Numbers are specific but many are generic.
If you want a specific identifier for a substance I suggest you use the CAS No. (Chemical Abstracts Service Registry Number) which can be found in section 3 of the SDS. In this case copper (II) nitrate hemipentahydrate is 19004-19-4.
Hope this helps.

SDS copper(ll)nitrate hemipentahydrate. Hope this attachment works. Don't take any notice of the name of the attachment. It is the SDS for your chemical. Revision date is 19.10.2015. You won't need to replace the SDS for another five years. Sorry for the messing around but I have never tried to add an attachment to anything before this.
