Blood Samples

Post by remlap12 »

Hi all,

Does anyone have a recipe(s) for making up blood samples? A, AB, O- O+ etc. We have some bottles made up here, but getting low, and the teacher said there should be a recipe somewhere...........but there have been NO recipes for anything at all left here!

Thanks in anticipation

Helen.

False Blood: A; "Blood & 'Antisera" samples must be given out in dropper bottles.
Keep all samples in sealed, airtight containers after preparation and before use.
Group A: 9.3g/100ml (0.25,) AI(No3)3.9H2O + red food dye ( Or methyl orange, but not eosin)
Group B: 11.8g/100ml (o.5M) Ca(NO3)2.4H2O + red food dye (or Eosin, but not Methyl orange)
Group AB: Equal amounts of Group A & Group B
Group O: H2O + red food dye (or Methyl orange)
(Note: Only use enough food dye or alternative to obtain a suitable colour)

Antisera A: 8.0g/100ml (0.5M) Sodium Salicylate
Antisera B: 7.1g/100ml (0.5M) Sodium Sulfate

Note solids form when Antisera is mixed with blood, shown by a +
No solids form when Antisera is mixed with blood shown as -

Blood group A=0.5M sodium chloride (2.9G/100ml water) + red food dye
Blood group B=0.1m barium nitrate =(2.6g/100ml water) +red food dye
Blood group AB= mix equal amounts of the above two reagents + red food dye
Blood group O = water +red food dye
Antisera A = 0.1M silver nitrate 1.7g/100ml water
Antisera B =5% sodium silicate 5.0g/100ml water
Use only enough food dye to obtain desired colour
Keep all samples in sealed airtight containers after preparation and before use.
A " =" test results if solids form when "antisera" is mixed with "blood"
A "-" test results when no solids are formed by the mixture
