Cleaning burettes

Post by ellice »

Further to the subject of burettes, any hints on getting them really clean? We used to use chromic acid in the good old days, but that's out of the question, as its banned. Also, has anyone heard of teflon coated burettes? Apparently less beading on inside, so more accurate readings.

My GA made me up a container to soak them in - 1m length of pvc pipe (10cm inner diameter), sealed at one end. Works well.
When not needed for this purpose, it's a great place to store the long springs (threaded onto lengths of dowel).
