Yr 7 - 10 Practical Assessments

Post by chocolatepot2003 »

Hi everyone,

I have just moved to a new school and the Yr 7 - 10 practical assessments they do here are terrible!! My staff have been doing them for years and years and no-one can be bothered changing or updating them. For example, Yr 8 hold a lit match in tongs at various angles and then time how long it takes each one to burn out and then graph the results. I don't like it because the risk of burn injuries is huge (let alone the possibility of hair on fire!!). Unfortunately I didn't take with me copies of the assessmets that we did at my old school :-(

Would you be able to share with me your practical assessment tasks you do at your schools?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!! :D

Kind regards,
Kris

our yr8 heat water to boiling point, time the tep change and graph it.
Also use metal cubes to work out density and they are given two unknowns and find out the metal by matching density
