Teacher would like to perform zinc sulfur experiment. Can anyone help me with this?
What type of zinc do I use, thanks

Sorry, I would have to ask for more info as it doesn't really ring any bells for me. The teacher concerned should know what he/she needs?!

I can't think of what it would be either. Ask them to show you the prac if it's in a book or online.

I just googled out of curiosity there is one using zinc powder, when you look up in CSIS manual.

Zinc dust is TCH only (fine powder ignites on heating and forms explosive mixtures with sulfur, bromine and iodine)
Zinc Metal, Granular, foil is K-12

it really depends on what he's doing :w00t:

Teacher only going by youtube videos.
I don't have zinc dust so will tell her can't be done here.

Sounds like building explosives by stealth. A definite NO seems in order.
