National Support and Advice for Teachers and Technicians

Hi Everyone,
I am very pleased to give you an Update on the National Support and Advice for Teachers of Science and School Laboratory Technicians: see attached flyer (below) for background information.

This project is managed by the Australian Science Teachers Association (ASTA) in consultation with Science Education Technicians Australia (SETA) and is supported by Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) funding. This is a four year trial with the intention of it being sustained beyond the term of the project

ASTA currently has two job opportunities for this project available: a School Science Teaching Support Officer and a School Science Laboratory Support Officer. Both roles comprise:

Flexible work hours
Not location specific - can work from home
Permanent part time

There is scope for considering a single, full-time appointment if a candidate feels they are suitable for both roles.

School Science Laboratory Support Officer
This is a rare opportunity to join ASTA’s dedicated team as the inaugural Laboratory Support Officer. It offers:
· Flexible work hours.
· Not location specific – can work from home.
· Permanent part time
In this exciting role, you will assist an authoritative panel disseminate technical advice and facilitate the development of a national online advisory service supporting school laboratory technicians and science educators.

The Australian Science Teachers Association (ASTA) is keen to appoint a Laboratory Support Officer to be instrumental in delivering upon a joint project with the Department of Education, Employment & Workplace Relations (DEEWR). In association with members of Science Education Technicians Australia (SETA) you will be working to support and enable a national online advisory service. Managed by ASTA, the service will develop and deliver online advice and technical support to guide school science laboratory technicians and science educators with whom they work on safe practices in school science laboratories.

School Science Teaching Support Officer
This is a rare opportunity to join ASTA’s dedicated national team as the inaugural Teaching Support Officer. It offers:

Supported by a team of expert advisors, you will facilitate the development of a national support network providing advice aligned to the Australian Science Curriculum. In addition, you will manage the development of a suite of practical and innovative educational activities and resources to support primary and secondary science teachers.
