Colorimeter tubes

Post by lizzieb »

We are looking for some extra tubes to fit our Labax colorimeter.

Have searched our catalogues and googled, but no luck so far.

They resemble a small specimen jar with a flat bottom, and may have originally had a lid. Size: 15 x 100mm

Does anyone have any advice or ideas, please?

Hi Lizzie
We have some test tubes that are rimless and 15mm wide but are 150mm long and of course have a round bottom. Would they fit? Diameter-wise they would be right, but would be too long. Depending whether the length is important or not, let me know if they would do the job, and you could have some.

Thanks, Darelle - we have plenty of those, too, but no good for what the HT wants.

Thanks anyway!

Hi Lizzie,

we got a colorimeter & some cuvettes from a South Aussie company called Adelab a couple of years ago, but you can get the cuvette tubes from a bunch of companies, including Serrata, Scientrific & Wiltronics, or do a google search for "colorimeter cuvettes".

You can get a set of glass cuvettes or a box of plastic disposable ones that are far cheaper.

Hope that helps,

Kiah :O)

Thanks for your help, everyone.

Looks like we might be best to invest in a new one!

I own an IEC colorimeter, and I use little square plastic tubes that are 45 x 10 x 10mm. I got a pack of 100 from Scientrific, and we get about an 85% re-use value out of them. Is that what you need?

Thanks Kristin, but we were hoping to find one or two to fit our old colorimeter - flat bottom cylindrical tube, 15/16mm diameter, 90cm long.

HT says to leave it for now - we may buy a newer model next year.

Thanks for your help and advice, everyone.

I have some tubes in the chem store that are 14mm in diameter but only 50mm long ( I am assuming you meant 90mm not 90cm)

There are about 2 dozen there. I have never used them.

LOL!

Yep, Wen, quite possibly I did, ha ha!

We have one that fits correctly, and after much searching I found a test-tube that measures 15x85mm, which HT may try.

Many thanks for your offer, but I feel 40mm will not be long enough. What a pity!

Thanks anyway
