Good Morning everyone.
Our Yr12 chem class does Forensics for their elective topic. We have a Carolina electrophoresis kit but it has not been used in the 41/2 years I have been here. I have dragged it out and it needs all the consumables replaced.
What I'm wondering is, has anyone else used these kits? If so are they worth it? Do they work??

Re: Carolina Electrophoresis Kits
We have used them, and yes, they work!! The consumables shouldn't 'go off' so if you still have some left at all you should be ok. We'll be ordering some more for next year. It is a great way to see how forensics really works.

Lorrae, I have attached a copy of an electrophoresus experiment we do using equipment already in the science labs. It is easy and cheap and works well for forensics "who did it" pracs when you mix different food colours together. If you already have the equipment, maybe you could use the recipes for the gel and samples in this prac. Hope it helps. Debbie
