Fume cabinet- acid proof coating compromised-help?

Post by Ocean Breeze »

The black coating that covers the bottom of my fume cupboard has holes in it! :-(

It looks like something hot or acidic has been dribbled in one spot, and a rod shape in another spot.

The coating has gone, revealing a white powdery material underneath.

Anyone suggest a paint/coating/treatment/silicone to mend it , before it gets wet!?

Hey Barb! it sounds like the bottom of your cupboard is coated in bitumen, it can be patched with some stuff from paint shop that goes by the title brushable hydroseal.

hi rainbowsky
I think you should be calling the manufacturer first before you do any improvements. They would be the best people for advice about the cabinet
