Bromobenzene

We don't use any bromo-compounds in our school, but I looked it up for you and found that the container should have an orange dot and that means Years 11 and 12 can only use it!!! All organic bromo-compounds are toxic and many are volatile and form toxic vapours. They are skin irritants but may also be absorbed into the body by skin contact with liquids or vapours.
When heating bromo-compounds,care should be taken to avoid inhalation of the vapours or skin contact with the liquid or vapour.Sounds a bit risky to me!!!

Bromobenzene

Hi All,

Certainly an easy one,

BROMOBENZENE is commonly used as an additive in Motor Oils and is commonly used as a derivative to the manufacturing Industry including the Pharmaceutical and Pesticide Production. It is also used as a Heavy Solvent for Organic Analysis.

I hope this has closed the door on a confusion issue.
