Hello everyone & I hope this day is treating you all well.
I was just curious to know if anyone knows any cheaper ways of finding plankton nets.... the Southern Biological ones are expensive & I know you can make them yourself - keeping that one for a "if I really have to" job... Any cheaper places to purchase them from??
Cheers & many thanks,
Kel

Grab a humpback by the tail, drag him through the water, then ask him to spit into a bucket??

Brilliant Kristin!!!!!!!! Now if you could just post me the humpback.... None here in Wodonga!!!!!!!
Not to mention I'd have to find some scuba gear for the big 'spit'!!!!!!

Re: Plankton nets
That was a whale of an idea smiley! Are plankton nets the same as dip nets? If so, I make them from strainers - the kitchen ones, round with a handle and screw them onto a long pole ie a broom handle. They do tend to break as the kids are none too gentle, but I found some old ones in the Home Science area that they were throwing out and they are far more sturdier ie made of metal not plastic. So they will be the next generation of dip nets.
Re: Plankton nets
Try pool leaf scoop nets which can be borrowed from anyone who has a pool, I have collected 2 from council clean up. Telescopic handles are good they can also be optained from painter and fit pool scoops.
Re: Plankton nets
plankton nets must have a specific size holes. i am sure the fish nets or pool nets will not be fine enough.
