Methyl Cellulose

Hi everyone,
I have to prepare some Methyl cellulose, the recipe that I have is 10g in 90g of water.(Working in Science, manual) Made this up was extremely thick. :-(
Can you tell me how you make it up please.

Trish,
mine says:
dissolve powder in small quantity of water until syrupy.
Amounts are not critical.
