Dirty electrodes

Post by cheltie »

Hey everyone,
Just wondering if there is some way of cleaning tin and zinc electrodes other than good old elbow grease?
We need some clean and some dirty ones for a chemistry prac and ours are all looking pretty dirty.
Hope someone has some bright ideas.

Dirty electrodes

Hi Cheltie,
my workmate came up with a good idea.
She uses medium grade sandpaper wrapped around a wood block.
Still needs elbow grease but is much quicker than what we did before.
For copper electrodes, after sandpapering, a quick rub with "Tarn-off" brings them up beautifully.
Cheers,
