I hope these 2 links work. If not, do a search (top right of screen next to FAQ) for blood typing and another one for fake blood and you will get a few ideas that have been thrown around before. I haven't tried any of them myself though.

For blood splatters we have made a goop using cornflour, red food colouring and water. Food colouring and glycerol works as well. I hear corn syrup & colouring is another option.

For blood typing we have always used the Westlab blood typing kit. Not much use for 11.00 today, but future reference maybe?

The best fake blood for blood splatter
125g cornflour
125ml goldensyrup
40ml water
2 teaspoons red food dye
1/2 teaspoon green food dye
Add more water if not fluid enough

Having tried all the fake blood recipes,I have purchased through the St John Ambulance Laerdal concentrated(fake) blood. It comes in a tube and is the consistency of toothpaste.
I have tested it by a 2:1 dilution in water and it splatters nicely.
We paid $31 for a 100g tube. You can purchase it from Laerdal direct.

As we finish soon I would like to wish the Chemtalk family a happy and safe Christmas and New Year.

Thankyou all for your input and time.
I made up the golden syrup, cornflour water and food colour mix.
Worked like a dream.

And the funny/frustrating/typical response from the teacher was .....
He took them outside, as to not mess up the floors, as the cleaners go .......
when the floors are left with sugar on them.
AND all the kids ran away. so they never did the experiment. 8-) :cheesy:

Years ago a travelling Science exhibition used fake blood made from chocolate syrup mixed with pillar box red powdered food colouring. Very realistic in it's texture and fluidity, but I don't remember the splattering tendencies.
