chipped microscope slides

Post by Kathryn »

Hi all

We have quite a few prepared microscope slides which are chipped on the corners but otherwise ok. I tried putting masking tape on the sharp edges but have realised this makes focusing (especially at high power) difficult. What do others do with chipped slides to make them safe for students to use?

I melt them over a bunsen burner..... smooth out the sharp bits.
